SS on the Scene: DJ Appreciation Day x Batcave Studios

Syreeta on the Scene / December 26, 2012

If you live in Philly and love hip-hop, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be familiar with Batcave Studio and the invaluable role that they’ve played in supporting Philly artists, including DJ’s.

Recently, Biz Porter, DJ G33k and the Respect the DJ movement partnered together to produce the first ever DJ Appreciation Day held at Batcave Studios. The event was created to honor the work and role of the DJ in music culture, more specifically hip-hop. The role of DJ’s has changed dramatically since hip-hop’s inception and it seems as if they are not as appreciated by the industry and those attempting to break through. This event marked the beginning of a movement to bring DJ’s back to the spotlight and reiterate their importance in the music industry once again.

Check out some of the photo’s taken on the scene. If you’re a true hip-hop lover you may see someone you recognize!

– Sincerely Syreeta
