Last year was an absolute blast.
I mean, there’s really no other way to put it. The SS Team put on our derby attire and headed down to the Piazza at Schmidts where we joined over 800 guests in attendance to celebrate the 138th Preakness Stakes and support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event was especially important to me because my daughters grandfather is battling MS and having witnessed the effects that it can have on
the body and spirit, we had to show our family’s support of such a wonderful effort. (We love you Pop Pop!!)
Between the delicious food (no really, the number of plates I had was pure fatkidness; I’ll be doing the same this year!), knock-out attire (ohh-la-la!), great music and flowing bubbly (insert huge grin here), the event did a stellar job of fundraising (nearly $100k was raised!) while creating a memorable experience. It certainly left us looking forward to next year.

This year on May 17th, Philadelphia’s finest will be coming together once again to exceed those accomplishments.

Returning to the Piazza at Schimdts was an easy decision for the Young Professionals planning committee of the MS Society. They were gracious hosts equipped with a perfect 400 square foot LED viewing screen for the big race. We’re happy to welcome back Philadelphia’s own DJ Royale, who has had a huge year appearing on VH1’s Master of the Mix. Preakness at the Piazza’s highly-anticipated silent auction is also back with Phillies tickets, a Jersey Shore beach house weekend, and much more.
Don’t expect the same party though because we are taking it to a new level this year! We’ve added a VIP lounge in the middle of the Piazza to sit and enjoy the Preakness Stakes. As a fashion-forward event of the season, there will be premiering a Best Dressed competition that includes subdivisions such as Best Bowtie and Best Fascinator. Expect to see many more creative and colorful outfits, bowties, hair accessories, and shoes this year.
Our returning sponsors include Gunner’s Run, Tito’s Vodka, Medical Guardian, The McFadden Group, Connect America and Chamberlain Law. This year we are happy to thank the support of Comfort Suites of Mahwah, Alevistar, and many independents! Loves, the 2nd Annual Preakness at the Piazza is sure to be the highlight of the spring season in Philadelphia…AGAIN! Tickets are on sale now for General Admission ($75) and VIP ($100), with discounts offered for couples and groups. For more information, visit www.preaknessatthepiazza.com.

Ladies, get your Derby hats and fellas, get your best sun-drenched attire [think VIBRANT COLOR and BOLD, PREPPY PATTERNS] and let’s head on down to Preakness y’all (*southern accent*)! 😉
About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. We do this through by funding more MS research and providing more services to people living with MS than any other MS organization in the world.
