Summer Sippin’ x Homemade Lemonade

Breaking / Carousel / Food / June 8, 2015

We hope you’re enjoying this warm weather we’ve been having. I look forward to this weather all year, but as soon as the warm weather hits I am looking for ways to cool down. For me, the ultimate refreshing cool down has always been a glass of homemade lemonade. I say homemade specifically because once you’ve had homemade lemonade, all other lemonades will be ruined for you. Homemade lemonade has been a popular refreshing treat since the 1800s, often the preferred social drink!

imageI know you’re wondering, why make something that you can simply but just buy, or buy a “mix” for? You make it because it is extremely simple to make, you can control the sweetness, and it is infinitely more delicious.

All you need is:

6-8 Lemons
6Ā Cups of water
3/4 Cups of honey
1/4 Cup of sugar

The secret of perfect lemonade is cooking everything together. In a medium pot cook 1 cup of water, the honey and the sugar on medium heat until all combined. Turn off heat, then add lemon juice from six lemons, (I used this mini juicer seen in the photos but you can easily do it by hand) and the rest of your water. Add more lemon juice or sugar to your preference. While you let your lemonade chill in the refrigerator, make lemonade ice cubes to use so your lemonade doesn’t get watered down in the heat!

If you want to add strawberries simply take a cup and a half of fresh strawberries and blend them in a blender or chopper. Strain them and add them directly to your lemonade.

Try this easy and delicious homemade recipe with a friend and let us know how you enjoy it! Remember the summer golden rule: stay cool! šŸ˜‰
